Each season I try do something new to improve my game. Last season the change I made was to try out and adopt cross handed grip putting. For a right hander like me, this means my left hand grip is lower than the right and closer to the hole in a putting stance.
It took sometime to get used to it (not much) - but I ended up liking it for short puts under 2 club lengths. For longer putts I still use my standard grip.
The new grip gives a more steady putter - especially for the short putts where you want to keep the clubface square to the ball at contact. These putts are more about confidence and good technique. The longer putts are where reading the slope of the green gets critical.
I found this article on the internet which explains this and other grips.
